GENERAL
If you are rich - go to the maledives!!!!!!
I did a boat trip for 10 days there last spring and I found pure atoll perfection.
In the north atoll region there are 6 to 8 spots all are well known by the people (lohis, pasta point, honkeys, chickens . . .).
You get cristal clear, warm (29° C) water and PERFEKT pealing waves in a tropical paradise (thousands of islands and the highest point of the country is lower than 10 meters)!
the waves are powerfull but easy to surf and although it´s only breaking on reefs it´s not that dangerous, because usually there´s enough water. You find a good variety of (long)left and right pointbreaks and can choose between them.
Go soon, because I am sure it´ll get more crouwded in the next year, because everybody loves it (and later they predict, the maledives are going down because of a rising sealevel). An other advice is: stay on a boat.
This provides you more flexibility and is just great.
If you want to go and you need a surfguide or coach for advanced surf course, just send me an email! We can go together! (I am a surf teacher and worked with beginners as well as with advanced surfers)
For a longer trip it s very expensive to stay on the maledives. So what you can do is combine it with a trip to sri lanka!
These were just a few short informations to give that site some content, do the same and stay wet in mind!
SPOT RATING: 5***** (1- not so okay, 2-okay, 3-cool, 4-very cool, 5-the ultimate spot)
Go to the forum and rate this spot
HOW TO GET THERE
Go by plane (Srilankan Airlines) and stay on a boot - the skipper is doing the rest!
WAVES
reef, kind of pointbreak
Water Temperature in Summer: 29°C
Water Temparature in Winter: 28°C
Click here to convert temperature from °C into °F
BEST TIME TO SURF
Most consistent and clean from november to march, biggest in summer but danger of ugly wind
CROWDS
If you are on a boat, it´s easy to avoid the crowds (I surfed perfect waves alone and talking to myself or praying for someone to share that pleasure and to make sure that this is not a dream)
