GENERAL
Upham Beach is one of the few spots on the west coast of Fl that can be rideable when the conditions are right. Takes North swells, to include wind swells, giving some long right handers, catering to the long boarders. Short boarders are able to churn it up as well. When the tropical storms hit, June thru November, it can really crank.. It can be very busy when the surf is on. Next best thing is Venice, 1 1/2-2 hrs south, or East Coast.
SPOT RATING: 3*** (1- not so okay, 2-okay, 3-cool, 4-very cool, 5-the ultimate spot)

HOW TO GET THERE
I dont think I want to say... Follow signs of I275 to the exits that say beaches, from north or south.. look for St Pete beach park and head to the water... most surfers will be North of that park... you\'ll figure it out
WAVES
Everything depends on the swell and wind, but the peaks shift all the time
Water Temperature in Summer: 85°F
Water Temparature in Winter: 55°F

BEST TIME TO SURF
All year round.. pending swell and winds.. surf is much more consistant w/ strong winds of W-NW 15 knots+, or W-SW 20 knots+.. in the winter we get the northerly strom flow that will bring up the swell for a couple days .. w/ peak surf usually only last a few hours
CROWDS / LOCALISM
Desperate people take desperate measures.. weekend and after work are usually busiest
WEBCAM: only when the tv stations show up for high surf !!
OTHER COMMENTS:
