GENERAL
Tarqua Bay is located just inside the breakwall of the harbour enterance to Lagos, the capital of Nigeria. The city is out of control, dangerous and bordering on insane. On the weekend, the small beach is alive with people trying to relax in the sun but hassled by swarms of peddlers, selling everything from stolen watches to arabic swords. SPOT RATING: 2 (1-not so okay, 2-okay, 3-cool, 4-very cool, 5-the ultimate spot)

HOW TO GET THERE
Catch a taxi boat from near the American Embassy or Tazans Bar to Taqua Bay. The waves are at the Western end of the beach.

WAVES
On high tide, the wave bounces off the rock wall and crosses the next wave at an angle to form a peak that barrels off over sand to the beach. It is a safe set-up but the wave has a punch for it´'s size.

BEST TIME TO SURF Best during July to Oct but anytime a solid swell hits, it barrels. CROWDS / LOCALISM Week-end has less than 6 guys and during the week - you on your own, except for a few local girls in the shallow water, trying to get your attention. WEBSITE: n/a WEBCAM: n/a OTHER COMMENTS
Not recommended for travellers but if you happen to be stuck in this part of the world, going surfing is about the only relaxing thing you will find to do.
